https://www.providencehomesinc.com/In this month’s feature, we asked Providence Homes Vice President of Sales & Marketing Robert Goettlicher, to share some insight on building HERS® homes for their customers.
Q: What is special about a HERS® Rated home?
A: Robert: It’s a nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance, so it makes homebuyers feel more comfortable knowing the home has been inspected by a third party.
Q: Why should consumers ask for the HERS® Index Score on homes they are shopping for?
A: Robert: The HERS® Index Score is one of the fastest and easiest way to learn about a home’s expected energy performance. It’s much like the MPG sticker on a car to help homebuyers know the energy efficiency of a home before buying it.
Q: Why does Providence Homes choose to have their homes HERS® Rated?
A: Robert: Providence Homes is a 100% ENERGY STAR® Certified Builder which requires a HERS® Index Rating to receive the label.
Q: Why consumers should expect energy-efficient homes?
A: Robert: Energy-efficient homes are designed and built better than comparable code-built homes. More and more consumers are expecting energy efficient features in their homes and care more about the environment now than ever before. Providence Homes is staying on top of the future of energy efficient homes in the marketplace.
Q: How many homes does Providence Homes build with HERS® per year?
A: Robert: We build approximately 175-200 ENERGY STAR® Certified Homes a year.
Q: How do you market HERS® Rated homes?
A: Robert: Providence Homes includes the RESNET logo on all of our marketing collateral that is handed out to Realtors and potential buyers. We also reference RESNET in our disclaimer on all collateral. In addition to marketing our average HERS® score on our website, we also have multiple blog posts about our RESNET milestones throughout the years. We use RESNET bandit signs throughout our communities to market sold and available homes. We also promote our HERS® score through event marketing brochures.
Q: How do your customers feel about HERS® Rated homes?
A: Robert: It gives them a sense of confidence knowing that their home has been inspected and tested to meet national energy standards by a trained, certified, and independent [HERS] rater.
